Future Day in Jõhvi

On Friday, 4 September, the Station Narva Future Day, organised in cooperation with the music industry development centre Music Estonia, will turn its focus to the music, film and creative industries of Ida-Virumaa.

During the first half of the day, participants will have a chance to visit the IDA Hub film campus in Jõhvi ahead of its official opening and discuss the opportunities and challenges of bringing more large-scale events to the region. In the afternoon, the programme continues in Narva, with a focus on Ida-Virumaa musicians, cooperation between the music sector and local governments, and Narva’s potential to once again bid for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2036.

Music and creative industry professionals, entrepreneurs and event organisers from Ida-Virumaa and across Estonia are warmly invited to take part in the Future Day.

Officially opening in Jõhvi in October, IDA Hub is an international film campus and creative technology centre featuring virtual studios, office spaces, and film and creative industry accelerators. Alongside traditional film production, the centre will also develop VR/AR technologies. Unique in the Baltics and Northern Europe, this major project will bring international productions to Ida-Virumaa, create high-value jobs and provide a launchpad to international markets.

Ida-Virumaa is home to distinctive music and strong artists, but how can musicians move from the local scene into the wider Estonian music landscape?

The panel brings together musicians who will speak about their journeys, choices and turning points, as well as the role played by their background, local environment, professional networks and opportunities outside the region. We will discuss what has helped artists from Ida-Virumaa grow and what is still missing to make the path from a local music community to the national stage easier.

SPOT is a series of music industry days organised by Music Estonia, bringing together music professionals, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts in cities across Estonia. The series explores the impact of music on regional culture, the economy and community life, while also examining the role different regions play in the development of Estonia’s music sector.

SPOT has previously taken place in Pärnu, Tartu and Viljandi, among other cities, and now comes to Ida-Virumaa in cooperation with Station Narva.

Participation in the Station Narva Future Day events is by registration.

Transport on the Narva–Jõhvi–Narva route and a light lunch will be provided. Participants arriving from elsewhere can join the Jõhvi–Narva transfer.

Participants will also have the opportunity to purchase a Station Narva festival pass or day ticket at a special rate. Further information will be sent after registration.

When registering, please indicate if you would like transport from Tallinn to Jõhvi in the morning and from Narva back to Tallinn in the evening. If there is sufficient interest, a shared transfer will be arranged.
