Here are a few recommendations to make the most of your time in the easternmost Estonian city during Station Narva festival.
Although the viewing platform in Narva is called the "five-kroon view", it's worth a million! The site got its name from the Estonian 5-kroon banknote. The front of the banknote features a portrait of Paul Keres, a famous Estonian chess player, international grandmaster and renowned chess theorist born in Narva. On the reverse – a view of Narva Castle, the Narva River and Ivangorod Fortress. The stairs connect the viewing platform, the Narva River Promenade and the Joaorg recreation area.
Narva Art Residency (NART), our dear programme partner, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. NART is a cultural platform which facilitates residencies, art exhibitions, talks and educational workshops. It's located in Narva on the Estonian-Russian border at the historic Kreenholm site. The centre is housed in a historicist villa, originally built for the director of Kreenholm Textile Manufacture. Nearby stand the vacant factory buildings which once formed the largest enterprise of its kind in Europe (established 1857).

The exhibition of virtual reality is open now in Narva Town Hall. With virtual reality glasses and touch screens, Narva appears as it was known before World War II and the bombing of 1944.
The double-terraced waterfall is located on the Narva River, just above the city. Kreenholm Island is located between the two terraces. The famous Kreenholm Textile Factory was built on the shore of the waterfall in the 19th century and was the largest factory in the Russian Empire at that time. In 1913, more than ten thousand people worked there! A compact complex of industrial architecture developed around the factory that included the factory, a hospital, workers' barracks, directors' houses, and Kreenholm Park. The buildings were built in the English style using red brick. The Kreenholm brand is known far beyond Estonia. The territory of the manufactory is closed, but guided tours are available on Sundays.

In Äkkeküla Nature Park, you can walk along the "Fairy Tale Trail". The trail was created to diversify the network of forest trails for pedestrians. The trail, equipped with information boards, is about 400 meters long and is particularly suitable for families with children. The trail connects with other trails, so you can walk even longer if you wish. On the "Fairy Tale Trail", you can look for the houses of the characters from the fairy tale series "Rabbit and Badger". The fairy tale series was created by Narva’s author Aleksei Serov and the activities of the fairy tales are set in Äkkeküla.
Have you been to the River Narva yet? From May to October, you can take a boat along the river between Narva and Narva-Jõesuu. The regular service uses Caroline, a modern, comfortable, two-storey, spacious passenger boat departing twice daily. It's a great opportunity for visitors to Narva and Narva-Jõesuu to visit the neighbouring town by boat, and it's excellent for families with children. During the voyage, you can enjoy views of the riverbanks and catch glimpses of Russia. The heated passenger salon seats up to 50 people. You can also use an audio guide with engaging commentary prepared by Narva's mayor, Katri Raik! Important: an identity document is required, including for children.
Street art is an integral part of modern street culture and art. Narva is proud of their artists who have decorated the city space with their bright and memorable works!
Visit Narva has mapped out 2 routes of Narva graffiti, so that you can enjoy the city through the eyes of Narva locals:
Outside the city, you'll find graffiti at Narva airfield (Olgina küla) and near the power plant at Elektrijaama tee 83.
