Narva Venice Annuale

Exact location on Google Maps.
In 2025, Narva holds the title of Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture. To mark the end of the season, Narva Art Residency’s summer project Narva Venice Embassy will host a special day dedicated to the ancient Finno-Ugric craft of dugout boats, which is recognised by UNESCO in its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Dugout boat masters Jaan Keerdo and Põvvat Kama will demonstrate the art of making ‘haabjas’ by sharing their knowledge and skills of building dugout boats. A photo exhibition will showcase various types of dugout boats from across Estonia, and visitors will have the opportunity to learn some skills under the masters’ guidance on a boat-in-process. Those eager for adventure can take a ride through the Kulgu canals in both traditional dugout boats or on a motor boat. Meanwhile, those on land can explore works created by the artists who undertook residencies at the Embassy throughout the summer.
In addition, this fascinating location will host a free performance by versatile Latvian musician German Superfin - a composer and trumpeter whose music combines electronic noise with captivating pop melodies, creating a bohemian and alternative atmosphere.
The Estonian Green Movement area will also be open, featuring a recording of Kuku Raadio's “Ilmaparandaja” programme followed by discussion. Music will be selected by DJ Kertu Laherand.
